What I learned about Social Media Marketing from Katie Freiling!

A while ago when I finally decided to really make things happen online, I had received an e-mail from Katie Freiling about a special webinar that was to take place featuring some free training given by her. It was called, “Katie Freiling’s 6 Figure Social Media Marketing System Blueprint”. All of the people who registered received a free copy of the worksheet to print out and fill in with the information that was given to us by her, during the webinar. In fact I could not wait to get that information!
I just don’t choose to learn from anybody and I have to say, Katie is one smart girl and sweet too. She’s very genuine and I like that, so of course I chose her as one of my online mentors!
Here is what I learned. There is a right and a wrong way to make it happen online while marketing using Social Media and I wanted to share this with my readers today. This is geared towards those of you who are just getting your feet wet and it just may serve as a reminder for others. I know it serves as a reminder for me and here it is:
First and foremost, be sure to find like-minded people to grow your social network.
She started it all off with the 5 Biggest Social Media Marketing Mistakes which are these:
1. Pitching and Selling with NO value – You must market free content & build relationships.
2. You do not have a blog – You will NEED a blog.
3. Not being consistent with sharing content – You must share content 2-3 times per week.
4. Not growing your target following – You need interested people in your niche.
5. Wasting time on ineffective strategies – There is no need to spend hours on end online. Be organized and have a specific plan.
Here is what you SHOULD be doing – This is the 6 Step Social Media Marketing Plan:
1. Choose your brand – How do you want to brand yourself?
2. Get plugged into Social Media – Make sure you have a Facebook account, a Twitter account, a LinkedIN account, a Better Networker account, etc. and start growing your following. Only spend 2 hours per day on this.
3. You must have content – Create Value Based content 1-3 times per week. It can be a blog post, a video or article.
4. Sharing is Caring – Always Ask people to share (Join a tribe to promote each other’s content).
5. Build your list and love it – Make sure you grow and nurture your relationship with your list and keep in contact with them 1-3 times per week.
6. Multiple Streams of Income – Grow your income streams with affiliate marketing, your own products and even do mini launches.
